Air Fryer Smashed Potatoes are a crispy, golden delight with minimal oil for a healthier twist on a classic favorite. Perfectly seasoned and irresistibly crunchy, they’re the ultimate side dish or snack for any occasion!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound potatoes
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 6 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley or coriander (finely chopped)
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt, or to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon chilli powder

Instructions

  • Place the potatoes in a pot and cover them with water, ensuring the water is about one inch above the potatoes.
  • Cook over medium heat for about 20 minutes or until fork-tender.
  • Drain the potatoes in a colander and transfer them to a cutting board. Let them rest for a few minutes (or until manageable).
  • In the meantime, mix melted butter, minced garlic, chili powder, and finely chopped parsley in a small bowl. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (using the roast setting).
  • Using a thick glass or potato masher, gently smash the potatoes until flattened to about ½ to 1 inch thick (be gentle when smashing).
  • Brush the garlic butter mixture over the potatoes and season with salt and pepper.
  • Carefully transfer the smashed potatoes to the air fryer basket, ensuring there’s some space between them.
  • Cook at 400°F for 12–15 minutes, or until they reach your desired crispiness, flipping halfway through.
  • Transfer the garlicky smashed potatoes to a platter, garnish with fresh herbs, and enjoy!
