How to use Homemade teriyaki sauce

This easy-to-make homemade teriyaki sauce begins with just ingredients that form a quick marinade, or they can thicken up a bit into a shiny glaze or sauce with the addition of cornstarch slurry and heat.

  • Teriyaki sauce as a marinade: You can use this sauce as a marinade for protein like tofu, chicken breast, or thighs and even for fish fillets. You just have to marinate the chicken, or fish for at least 45 minutes or you can even keep it overnight in an airtight container in the fridge. And for the fish fillets, marinate for no more than 15 to 20 minutes. Then just toss the protein on the grill or cook in an iron skillet, bake, or air fry.
  • Simply as a sauce: You can use the teriyaki sauce as a simple stir fry sauce by pouring the sauce into the pan, the heat will immediately simmer and thicken the sauce as it coats your stir fry protein, veggies, or noodles. Or you can even use this to simply brush onto the air fried or baked protein or tofu.

** Make sure to not use the USED marinade to make the stir fry sauce, make separate batches of it to avoid cross-contamination.**
